Either way it sounds as I thought - the pricing is on the upper end with a bit stuck on top for good measure.
It's done now though.
For the service later in the year I'll try another plumber. Need a regular who doesn't take the piddle with the time they turn up & also doesn't charge the earth.
I do not enjoy working on those parts on a Worcester.
Went to a friend who needed a right hand block and I suggested he asked for their fixed price repair at about £330.
He was so lucky because the combustion chamber had been leaking some brownish stuff. The Worcs guy replaced the RH block and said he would order a new combustion chamber. They cost about £400 to buy ! Came and fitted it a few days later.
