hi all,my husband has recently inherited a house wich obviously needs gutting and starting again in most places, but having ripped the place to bits i have uncoverd a room full of quarry tiles, all perfect .unfortunatly they were under two layers of vinyl tiles stuck down with shed loads of sticky stuff.and i cant get the sticky stuff off..any ideas

what sort of house is it? Is it a 18-1900's terrace? Do the quarry tiles appear damp at all?

not sure what year it is yet i should think its around 1935+.and no they dont appear to be damp .there in superb condition exept for the sticky stuff used to lay the vinyl tiles on top

I've had some success with using a heat-gun to heat the goo then scrape it off with ... er, a scraper.

This was just on a bare concrete floor tho, so not sure if the heat might push any solvents into the tiles :?

get em up

will be a bad project retile ...a must !

hope this helps ....:)
