I have a mixer tap on the kitchen sink and the cold tap has been dripping. I removed the valve mechanism and found it had a 1/2 inch washer. I thought all quarter turn taps were ceramic !!!.
Can I replace the whole valve mechanism with a washerless ceramic one?

Thanks

Mike

You have what is sometimes called 'fastthread' taps. Instead of turning 720 degrees or whatever from full closed to fully open, fastthread taps do it in around 90 degrees, due to having a coarser thread.

It may be possible to put in a ceramic cartridge. It'll depend on the thread in the tap body and the splines in the lever.

Why not just try it and see. then you will know for your self and let us know if it works.
