Hi all,

Our roofer completed our felt roof last night, however we are unsure whether the application is going to be problematic.

We have gone for a triple layer system which all is fine.

However the issue we have is with the direction the felt has been laid, it should have gone with the direction of the fall of the roof right?

Do you think this will be problematic and I should get the roofer to rectify now, or is it not a huge issue, or I should just wait and see how it performs...

Thanks all.

Has each layer been laid at right-angles to the layer below?
Set in/on Bitumen Pitch?
Top Layer 'Torch On"?
What is the overlap on the top layer?

Hi Diver Fred,

Thanks for getting back I appreciate it.

Yes, it seems that's the case it has been applied in opposite directions to the previous.

Layers:
- IKO Venting Layer Torch On
- IKO SBS HP Top Layer 1 Sand
- IKO 67440000 Turbo Cap Sheet Torch

See images attached in order of how applied (unfortunately I don't have an image of the torch layer once applied)

Note: The wall at the fall side has been taken down, we initially wanted a parapet wall, but opted for fascia.

Looking at your first photo on a better screen - they have laid the top layer is across the fall? With at least 150 mm overlap. Can you confirm.

Yes that photo is the second layer that has been applied: IKO SBS HP Top Layer 1 Sand

This has been laid in line with the fall.

Hi all,

Now we've had a bit of rain, this is the state of play at the moment with the roof.

Is this level of pooling normal?!

It's not normal, it actually looks like it slopes back on the last lap, roofers should be building stuff to 1:40 with the aim that nothing ends up less than 1:80, they screwed up but not much can be done, it should be OK if the felts been built up properly, which it looks like it has.
