I have a single skin brick detached garage, which I want to insulate. The plan is

100mm studwork 50mm gap from brickwork, dpm underneath (floor) stud work and 100mm insulation in the studwork then plasterboard, do I know a vapour barrier, if so is it on the warm side or the cold side? many thanks

the warm side, you wont need one if you use vapour boards.
be sure to vent the new ‘cavity’ from the outside.

What's protecting the frame from moisture when the wall gets saturated, and from humidity in the cavity?
