Hi all,

Just bought a flat that has artex ceilings tested positive for asbestos. Most of ceilings either have thick asbestos-free artex or been painted over in pretty good condition so we are happy not to disturb it. However, after removing 2 fitted wardrobes in our bedroom, it was revealed the ceiling artex above those wardrobe had not been painted over, has slight mould and are slightly puffing to touch (not crack and no breakage so far).

We are now planning to remove the ceiling artex in whole of the bedroom ourselves as the pros has quoted £1000+ for 4m x 3m area and we can't afford that. We will be using X-tex to remove the artex and seal it with PVA for skimming over or painting.

I am wondering if I can get some planning help here, my questions are:
1. Our ceiling is concrete behind artex therefore it's porous, which PVA is best for sealing it?
2. Do I need to wash the ceiling before applying PVA (will x-tex residue bond with PVA well?)
3. We are renovating our flat currently, will it be a problem for decorator to skim/paint the ceiling 8-10 week after PVA has been applied?

Thanks in advance.
