Hi All,

I'm in the process of changing the pendant lampholder for my light fitting.

Once I removed the old lampholder there is a brown (live) and blue (neutral) wire exposed.

ie, like this:

There is no indication on the new socket that the wires need to be plugged into any specific hole, so am I to assume that it doesn't matter which wire goes into which hole?

Would rather be safe and check than be sorry.

Cheers in advance for any help.

As long as the new is similar you will be fine.

Assuming you remove the power first !

If it's a regular BC (bayonet-cap) lampholder, then it doesn't matter which way round you connect the two wires. If it's an ES (Edison Screw) lampholder, then you should ensure that the brown is connected to the center contact and the blue to the screw shell or outer contact.
