Quick Q for a quick answer

CFLs cos LEDs are kak.

CFLs are suitable for actual lighting. LEDs are only any good to look pretty, but are no good for proper lighting.

What's the light output like with LED.

Need to be enough for lighting the front door !! (bungalow)

IP rated fittings are a good idea, even if it is just for corrosion resistance.

They'll give off enough light so you can read the door number if you are standing in front of it....

not true,

you can see my door number for the other side of the road (you cant get further away, but then it is made from leds)

Ended up having to get led lights in the end. Even though I only wanted 3 out of all the wholesalers + B&Q I could only get 1 CFL.

I am impresed with the power consumption of the LED's though 1.2w each, means that they can run all year for under £5
