Hi

New to this so hope it works! Hoping to find out the cause of the paint bulges on our downstairs rad. Been in our home 3 years - its an old system, painted all the radiators when we moved in but no previous issues. Hoping it's just an external paint issue, we've had problems with a leaking valve upstairs which i've repaired with a new fibre washer (pressure still drops intermittently tho.) As a definate diy amateur, any thoughts? Pic attatched if it uploads.

Unfortunately the cause is most likely corrosion, causing pinhole leaks under the paint. The bubbles are probably full of water.

You should turn off both valves to the radiator immediately, and have the radiator replaced as soon as possible.

If you have a decent carpet under the rad - pull it back because even turned off there will be pressure in the rad. Don't touch the bubbles;) Old carpet - claim on the insurance

Thanks for the replies. Rad turned off. New carpet as well so might have to get it out sharpish.

Update. Bubbling wasn't loaded with water?! Pulled back the carpet and got ready to drain rad....popped a bubble which cracked but was bone dry. None the wiser!
