Rads giving coffee brown water.

Had our system flushed 2 years ago, first with a strong cleaner, believe he used x800. Flushed twice.

Then had 2 bottles of x100 and 1 bottle of x200 added. Think there are about 21 rads.

Not thought to check in a while, as its getting cold, checked for air upstairs. Nothing, but greeted with orange looking water when bleeding. Bled into a cup it looks dark brown / coffee like.

Before the drain and x100/x200, the water was like a straw yellow colour.

Any ideas?

Noticed some of the TRV's weeping occasionally.

thanks

Expresso or Latte?
It's rust, it may be that the leakage from the system is causing the water to be changed and the X100 cannot keep up with it or simply that the X200 has liberated rust with the scale it has removed.
Best option will be to certainly fix the rad valves and you might as well flush out the system at the same time and replace the sentinel X100 you could add some more 200 at the same time if you wish.

I feel the X800 needs more flushes. It can be harmful to pumps.
Inhibitor can go dark
If air is entering the system, then coffee colour could be corrosion related

Nice Sunday afternoon spent sorting this

Yes espresso brown!

Surprised at the first flush.

Second more yellow / orange.

Drained each ground floor rad.

Flushed through with mains.

Then refilled 2 or 3 times.

Water ended up running as close to clear as I’m going to get it without a machine, flushing each rad and using strong chemicals

It’s all running again, smoothly and quietly it seems.

Dosed with x100 and x200.

Now the fun task or making sure the valves are set correctly and balanced on the rads once these chemicals are fully integrated

Just hope it doesn’t turn dark brown / black again.
