Radial extension

Hi everyone. It’s been a while since I was last on as all projects were finished, but, new projects come along.
I want to put a new double socket in my garage for a large fridge as it won’t be located near any existing ones. I was going to run a cable from an existing socket to do it. This socket was originally for a freezer and is a radial with a 16amp breaker but the cable from it going to the CU is only 1.5t&e colour coded black and red. Suitable? Or should I run new 2.5t&e to the CU and fit 20amp breaker?

If it’s not hard to replace the cable with 2.5mm that would be a better idea and obviously the circuit requires RCD protection

It’s not necessarily hard to replace but it will be awkward and frustrating.
RCD is on CU
I’ve already put the new socket and cable in place, it was whether connecting 2.5mm to 1.5mm in the original socket protected by 16amp breaker would be a problem?

Protected by a 16amp MCB, and an RCD then the 1.5mm is adequately protected. Proving you are not planning to run a 3Kw heater from the extra socket, it will be fine.

Thanks for that. I’m going to get an electrical check done in the next couple of months and have anything sorted as required. It was a matter of whether the current set up was useable or whether I’d have to start going further before the check.
