if i buy and change this one which you think is suitable the digital or just the ordinary clock timer. can i just follow the old connection and put a new one in.
depends what you want similar but with 15 min segments is cheaper

can you suggest an electronic digital timer that would suit my boiler, the type that i could programme independently the central heating and hot water. 
not with the system you have without some alteration of pipework etc
virtually any digital timer will do
as stated earlier you might be better off with a programmable stat
but you pays yer money and takes yer choice
