I have just bought a chrome radiator and thought that 15mm crome pipes would look better than the 8mm microbore pipes that I have now. The question is would it be ok to use a 8mm to 15mm compression fitting on the microbore to provide 15mm chrome copper to the rad valves?

You can do that but the compression fittings need to be visible, i.e not under the floorboards.

They will be in pipe boxing under the rad. I will also use water hawk jointing compound if this helps.

Is this still acceptable?

Should be ok if jointed properly, or use chrome snap on pipe covers. They look ok if done neatly, IMHO.
