Would you try to see how close you could hold a match to a petrol tank before it exploded?.

Going off topic, but you could put the flaming match in petrol and it won't explode! :P In fact the match will go out.

Quite true if there are no fumes. But would you risk it? If so, can you give us a practical demonstration and place a video of it on here for us to watch. I very much doubt if you will take me up on this.

No I meant a plumber touching/moving electrical cables! I would have thought that the round pipe insulation foam would have protected the cable.

Plumber installed boiler in loft.
2x22mm pipes from boiler gets hot!!! Insulation on pipes is thin walled and was resting ontop of cables, (sandwiched between joist and foam insulation for 2 mtr) I didnt like it and he moved cables which was easier than moving his pipe run. New cable not just j/b's. Im no electrician but would you have risked it?.
