Radiator pipes

I have some rads to fit where I want to take the radiator pipes into the wall and back out to feed the radiator instead of going straight under the floor. What do I need to put on the pipes in the floor to protect them. Hair felt lagging or tape?

It's a solid wall. Also would you advise angled radiators valves. Or coming out elbow and small piece of pipe to the radiator. To use angled valves id have to get the pipes dead level. As this would determine hanging the radiator. It's doable though?

It's certainly doable to use angled valves ,but you need to be very accurate in positioning the pipework.
If your not confident ,use the elbow and short vertical stub of pipe.
If the pipes are copper , buried in the wall cover them with duct tape before plastering/ cementing over.

I've done this but only on a stud wall. Fit a stub of pipe to the valve, fit the tails and valves to the radiator, and mark the wall where the stub of pipe touches it. Make your hole in the wall somewhat larger than you think is necessary - exactly how much larger depending on how optimistic you are about your accuracy! Don't fill the chase until you've connected everything up.

Note these angled valves have left and right versions, unlike regular valves; you need the correct one if you care whether flow or return goes through the adjustable valve vs. the lockshield.

Thanks yes with it being a solid wall would need to be highly accurate and then the plasterer may move so would need to be clipped or supported. Coming out of the wall

Any advise on getting the pipes absolutely bob on. A laser level then bring out to the pipe centres then somehow support stay correct after plasterer

Yes. Pipe clips would retain the positions. Saddle clips would be my preferred option.

Buried shallow you risk plaster cracking with expansion.

Are you talking about corner valves or angled valves?

Either way, when pipes come out of the walls, unless you use union connections to the rad tails, just be aware you'll need to drain system if you ever need to remove a rad.

Cut a small chase in the wall, then fit the radiator and pipe up the valves. Then fill the chase in with filler and you know it is correct.
