Hi,

I have a Main Combi 24 HE boiler, and have radiators in all rooms except the hall and landing.
could you please let me know if you need them there? I know its probably a stupid question, as it is cold in these areas, but as you are just passing through, does it make a difference to heating the house.

You can have a radiator anywhere in your house, if you want one in your hall and on your landing, there is nothing to say you can't.

Thanks for the quick reply, i was just wondering if it would make any difference to how warm the house is.

Well in effect if you add a radiator into the hall, when you turn your CH on, the hall will be warmer.

Can I ask, where is your room thermostat sited at the moment?

I haven't any room thermostat, just a knob on the boiler, where you can turn it up or down. sorry if i am not very technical, but have had central heating for only 2 years, didn't have any before that.

Unless the cooler temperature of your hall/landing is causing drafts in the rest of the house then there's probably little benefit in retrofitting radiators there, particularly if doing so would require some major upheaval, redecoration, loss of space etc.

Out of the two, a radiator in the hall is more common than the landing - and indeed much of the hot air created downstairs will rise up the stairs anyway.

Unless there's a particular problem/issue you're trying to solve I wouldn't bother.

Thanks, its just that when you come into the house or go upstairs, you can feel the cold air, even when its warm in the lounge. Also it's colder upstairs than down.
