Can anyone tell me a manufacturer of radio linked digital 7 day timer and power supply unit/transformer with back up rechargeable battery suitable to operate an electric door release mechanism.
What is the timer controlling? The hours the door can remain open?
You can get telementary links that have inputs at one end operated by normally open switches/contacts/relays, and outputs at the other end from relays (changover contacts).
I have fitted one fairly recently on a complex to signal high level alarms from a series of **** tanks.
I think this would do for you - timer input to input PCB, and door release on output PCB. Power supply required both ends. I used a 12v DC battery backed power supply at either end.

The project is to time the opening of Public toilets, I suppose the radio controlled capability will mean the toilet can be opened by someone sitting in a office somewhere !!
Almost any time switch with battery back up could be used to provide control of the door release mechanism. Make sure the mechanism used is one designed for continuous energisation. Many are designed to operate for only a few seconds when a button is pressed. These will overheat if kept energised for long periods of time.
And ensure the door can be opened by someone inside when the timer locks the door.
There are companies that provide remote control via the mobile phone network. A text message to the "phone" actuates the requires control outputs at the remote site.
