My house is on an incline and rain water runs into the front of the house. I am digging a small gutter/trench around the front, up against the brickwork. I am thinking will put shingle at the bottom, then a perforated 3-4 inch plastic tube I have handy, and then close it off with more shingle at the top.

It is very hard to give it a sensible incline towards the sides of the house but there are a few waste pipes and drains near by I could potentially connect to, if I knew how.

How should I do this?

Drain to a soak away, use larger gravel below to aid drainage. If it the slope is bad and rainfall high gravel over a larger area. Ensure you are 150mm below dpc height
