I have levelled the floor in my house and as a result the socket will fall below the top of the skirting board. Is it an easy job to move this socket up? What materials do i need - ie. what connectors and new cable?

I don't want to have to take up the floor so if thats the case i'll have to cut skirting around it, which i don't ideally want to do either!

It may be easy or it may be a massive pain in the ass. Sadly there is little middle ground.

The first thing you need to ascertain is where the cables come from and what installation method was used for them.

The cables come from under the floor boards and this is how it's wired

Whats under the floorboards, if theres a void theres a good chance you can pull up a few inches of cable

How much do you need to raise it? is there slack that can be pulled through from the underfloor space? is there access to the underfloor space?

Yes it's just joists and definitely loose cable as I had them exposed a couple of months back.

If there is sufficient slack in the cable to raise the socket, you need a double back box (I suggest 59mm), grommets and a new double socket.

To be fair no I don't use it. It's going to be in my son's room and he's only 3 so he won't be using it. How do I blank it off?

It won't be that long before he's wanting lots of power for his mega computers, or you need to plug in the fan your using because it's a heatwave in December. :)

59mm deep?? I don’t think so!
32mm is a standard size.
Not quite sure where my 59mm came from :(

I meant 35mm. Always better to have a deeper socket to future proof against different types of sockets and it gives you a bit more space for the wires.

You look to have plenty of cable there for modification. It would be acceptable to use some kind of maintenance free junction box under the floor for example a Wagobox or a (pair of) Hager J503s depending on whether you keep that socket on the ring, or configure it as a spur.
Possibly if you are able to install it correctly, the cables could be extended with crimps or soldered connections in the original pattress but it will need protection from the plaster used to conceal the hold. You may as well install a double socket to replace the single.
