Random plastic surface box question ?

White plastic surface mount boxes....

Why do they have an earth connector in the corner ?

Do you have to run an earth cable to it, seems a bit pointless, please enlighten me ?

It's a very good place to put the CPCs to maintain continuity if you fit an accessory without an earth terminal (EG plastic light switch).
