Good Afternoon,

I'm wanting to remove a built in oven and replace it with a larger range cooker my current cooker is wired in to a juntion box then plugged in to a nearby Plug socket,

Can i do this with the range cooker or would i need to install a seperate circuit for the cooker ?

I will be getting a electrician to do the job just want to know what to expect,

Range specs

Voltage 220-240
Total consumption 13.3kw
Fuse 40a
Cable Type H05VV-FG 3x6mm

Many thanks for your help and advise,

You can't plug that into a 13 amp socket, or a socket circuit.

It needs a dedicated circuit.

Are you certain you don't have a cooker circuit already? It's not unknown for a cooker circuit to have a socket on it somewhere.

Check at the consumer unit, just in case.

I have just checked the fuse box and the only fuse that has any reference to the kitchen is one that says kitchen sockets so i'm guessing it doesnt have its own supply.

Ok.

If that's the case you need a cable from the consumer unit to the kitchen.

How easy do you think it might be getting a cable under the floor/above the ceiling?

Not Very, However my fuse box is next to my outside wall at the front of the house so could they run a cable around the side of the house and in to the back of the cooker that way ?

Thanks,

It can be done that way, usually in SWA cable or black conduit, but not very pretty.

An experienced electrician may be able to find a better way of doing it.
