The (moderate sized) village where my mother lives has an ongoing but intermittent problem with the phones - sometimes when making or receiving a call the voice of the person located in the village sounds very raspy, as if the microphone in the phone has a problem. Apparently Openreach have also been laying fibre in the area, so that is presumably the cause of the issues.
Additional note: even when CALLING someone in the village the ringing sound (as the caller hears it) can sometimes sound raspy/distorted too.
This has been going on for a few weeks and people have logged calls with their phone providers but so far the issue hasn't been resolved. No-one knows what is going on and getting any information from Openreach is like getting blood from a stone.
What else can be done?
Is there a way to directly contact Openreach? They have a contact page on their website:
http://www.homeandwork.openreach.co.uk/who-to-contact/
but none of the contact options are relevant to the ongoing problem. Their advice seems to be to contact the phone provider, but this isn't helping either.
So how can Openreach be contacted with a view to finding out if anything is being done and when the issue will be resolved?
Also, has anyone encountered a problem like this before?
