I am fitting out a new bathroom. Its involves reinstating one that was taken out some years ago so that the space could be used as nursery room. The room is now unused and totally empty. This means everthing needs doing. This includes - fitting standard bathroom suite, tiling a room 2.65 x 1.83 & 2.45 in height, fitting 4 spots in the ceiling + skim finish, removing stud partition wall, as toilet is in separate space - think 1930's -1970's type arrangememnt in semi built in 1930 + fitting new door to the new space + removing existing rad and replacing with heated towel rail.

The toilet will be in the same place, so no moving soilpipe etc. As far as I know the pipework for the sink/bath etc will be straightforward ie no rearranging the pipework for this. Flooring will not be done by person who has quoted us £2,000 for the labour. He said it would take 10 days. I am no expert, but the room is small, and to a layman 10 days is a long time, but I will probably be wrong. So, could someone just give me their honest view on whether this price seems realistic or not. Our house is in outer London, so obviously this will be a factor.

many thanks for any help,

Kevva,

It's always difficult to say without seeing a job, but I reckon that 10 days is about right (if not a bit under) if it's one guy on his own.

If you've got a couple of guys there it might be a bit over, but it's always difficult for two to work in a bathroom.

And there's going to be an allowance for the unknown - perhaps there is some nightmare pipework hidden under the floor, etc.

If it`s S.E outer London , I`ll come out of retirement and up from Sussex and do it for that £.....
