Hi Everyone,

Currently DIY'ing the bathroom in my 1970's bungalow. I have removed the non load bearing wall between toilet and shower room.

What is the best way to make the blockwork flush enough for plastering? Is it a case of chiselling away so there is enough of a recess?

Thanks

Assuming either the whole lot’s getting reskimmed over the existing finish, or just that section’s getting redone and feathered in, chop the blockwork back at least half an inch back from the existing finish, so it can be filled with backing plaster before skimming.

When you say chop do people just go in with a cutting disc?

I'd use hammer and bolster, or an old/cheap chisel at a pinch. Just don't expect to ever use it again on wood.
Those blocks are easy to trim down
Cutting disc is too messy and awkward
