Ravenheat 820/20(T) - Does this sound normal?

Hi Everyone,

I have a Ravenheat 820/20(T) Combi-boiler. It's old I know, but a new boiler isn't really feasable at the moment.

I recently had some repairs done on the boiler, a new divertor valve and a new PRV. Now, it may be me just being paranoid, and I honestly can't remember if this is normal as it seems ages since the boiler was last working properly. When you turn the central heating on, the burner kicks in and stays on until I assume the boiler reaches a certain temperature. When this temperature is reached, the burner then disengages for about 30 seconds (pilot stays lit) and then turns on again (burner re-engages). This process continues repeatedly while the central heating is turned on. I know it sounds silly but I can't remember if this is how the boiler operated before the repairs were needed? Does this sound right, or is there something else that is possibly faulty? Just seems strange that it keeps starting and stopping so frequently. Any one out there with the same model that can confirm this is normal?

boiler cycling, dont you have a room stat?

No room thermostat - just the standard boiler.

Thanks for your reply - now looking into getting one. But without it as I stand, is it a normal occurrence for the boiler to be acting the way it is?

YES !!!

The boiler goes off when the flow temp is at the set value and comes on again when its below the set value. Thats what its supposed to do !!!

If you have turned off some rads then it will do it even quicker.

Get a room stat !
