We have a cross trainer and it has started squeaking.

Problem area is the point where the central, vertical tube is joined, a 4" overlap with four machine crews to hold it. There is some clearance between the tubes and it has started to flex a little. Tightening up the crews makes no difference.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to stop the noise - lubrication does not work either. Am tempted to drill some more holes and put some more screws in but the tube wall is not very thick.

Machine is similar to this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produ...69.Cross+trainers+and+elliptical+trainers.htm

Breezer - had it apart and no sign of cracking. Just seems to be play on the bolts as your weight transfers from side to side.

The two tubes are not a close enough fit and although quiet new it started about a month ago - perhaps they are only designed as fashion accessories and you are not supposed to use them!

Looked again at the weekend - found two cracks - out of warranty so now in the scrap skip at the tip.
