Hi, I have just had my wiring redone and got a nice :-) certificate. As part of it there is a new fusebox which has a rcd 100amp fitted. The problem is if I turn on too many things it seems to trip (extractor, two ovens, underfloor heating and tumble dryer will normally do it). Whilst it is conceivable for me not to cook in two ovens and dry clothes at the same time - it is most annoying! any ideas? I can obviously bring the electrician back in, but I'd to understand the background first...

Quite common occurence following a CU up grade - more than likely a faulty appliance with an earth leakage which was there before work was done but without an RCD fault was unnoticed.

Assuming the whole installation was tested and insulation resistance was OK then it could be appliance fault.

Have you spoken to electrician?

Are you able to scan the EIC in for us?

if not, then its the earthing system type (TNS, TNCS, or TT), Insulation resistance values for each circuit, and the RCD time results that are relevant, if its easier to just type those out?

(also an RCD ramp test result if there is one?... but I doubt it, its an optional test and there is no proper place on the form to write it)
