rcd problems

hi
my rcd keeps tripping on different rings
it is hard to reset
turn power off at the main black fuse but the rcd will nt reset
then after about 50 goes it resets
try to put the trips back on but it keeps tripping after a couple and on different ones
is the rcd us
or other reasons

RCD's do fail but not very often. More likely you have a fault and likely that will be on the neutral so switch off the MCB will not help.

Unplug everything and switch off any fused connection units (FCU) and see if it's easier to reset and then plug in one thing at a time only when required and see if you can work out what it is that's causing the trip.
 
Look at areas where electricity may be exposed to water or damp.
Especially outdoor power outlets and lights.

Look also at heating pumps and valves. They can leak and cause problems.
