Sounds like the heating element or the wiring to it, is shorting to earth. Try here if you get no joy. http://showerdoc.co.uk/forum/phpBB2/
RCD just for shower, or other parts of the house?
The load presented by a shower can cause an RCD to trip due to a N to E fault of a highish impedance. Day to day current flow through the RCD, and the RCD sits happily until the 'unusually high' current of the shower.....and then enough (30mA typically) of current flows from N to E through the high-imp fault, causing the RCD to operate.
