Re line walls or re skim

I am in the process of stripping all the badly put up lining paper off in my Victorian terraced house (it's a bad DIY job, overlapping seams and gaps between seams).

There are 4 layers of wallpaper in places, I am stripping back to reveal the original (grey!) Plaster underneath

Condition wise, so far, it's not good enough to be painted directly however hardly any areas have delaminated and there are hardly any large holes.

Would it be best to get a decorator in to re line properly (no visible gaps between seams) or get the whole lot re skimmed with multifinish?

Personally, I’d take the external walls back to brick, install insulated plasterboard and get the room skimmed. 2days work tops and a couple of £100 on materials - you won’t regret the feel of 50mm of insulation come the winter.
