Hi.

I want to get my house re-rendered. I also want to fit new windows, soffits, facia and guttering. What order do you think I should do the work?

Thanks.

Thanks for replying. That's great.

Do you think I should get the existing render hacked off before getting the windows and soffits fitted, then get the house rendered? Or do you think it doesn't matter (fit the windows then hack off the existing render and re-render)?

Thanks for your advice.

You wouldn't want to fit new windows, soffits, etc, then run the risk of damaging, chipping, scratching them by hacking off the old render, round about them. Remove all the old render first, then fit your new windows, soffits etc,,, then re-render. Fit the downpipes "after" the new render has been put on.

Thanks for your advice.

Are there any problems leaving the wall without render for a couple of weeks?

I'm trying to think how I manage the time with ordering the windows, hacking off the render, getting them fitted etc. before re-rendering.

At this time of the year, it'll be ok, as long as the brick/blockwork isn't damaged when the old render is removed, and the joints are ok, there shouldn't be a problem. Make sure a "couple of weeks", doesn't turn into months and months though

book the windows, they normally have a 4 week lead time, then get bouncing on that kango!!
