Re-Rendering Outside Wall

Hiya, I'm going to rerender an outside wall where the pebbledash has all fallen off. The initial scratch coat is still intact.

I'm going to use PVA before I start, I've got the mortar and 6mm pebbles and will apply using plastic float. Does anyone know how I can achieve a stippled/grainy effect of the original rendering without making it smooth?

Post a pic and will help us tell you what your existing finish is.

Do not use pva.

Or a plastic float.
