re-starting boiler

Hi all,

I need to bleed a radiator but i understand before i do this i should turn off the gas and electric to the combi-boiler. (is that correct?)

I'm not familiar at all with the workings of boilers, so i want to make sure i'm able to start the thing back up after it's been switched off.

When i turn the electric to the boiler back on will it automatically re-ignite? or will i need to do something to it? I've read the manual and it mentions nothing about having to re-start the pilot light, but i dont want to assume anything, as it's bloomin' freezing at the moment and can't be without heat for even one night!

There is no need to turn anything off.

All you need to do is to turn the room thermostat right down so the boiler will not light. Bleeding a radiator is best done when the pump is not running and when the water in the radiators is cold.

It might be sensible not to draw any hot water when you are bleeding.

If you have a sealed system, you will need to check and adjust the pressure after bleeding the rads.
