How long after plastering can you begin tiling? I have heard six weeks?

If it's just a re-skim of an existing wall, you should be OK after 10 -14 days but if it's a full float & set job (finish skim over base plaster) then you should leave it for 4 weeks. If it’s a new build (extension etc) the moisture content will be very high & 6 weeks is not unreasonable; if your plasterer has told you six weeks, I would stick with that. Remember although it may look dry, the moisture content can still be quiet high!
