Hi, i am going to put a new light up and the old wiring colours are Red, Black and Earth, can someone please reassure me and let me know which colour is the live and neutral.

As long as the wiring polarity has been observed throughout the installation then Red is Line (Live) and Black is Neutral. Please make sure you isolate safely

Don't forget that at ceiling roses it's normal for the switched live to be black, and often with no sleeving to indicate that it is not a neutral.
If you assume all blacks are neutral you'll blow the fuse/trip the MCB and possibly damage the switch.
