This forum is turning out to be a godsend, so here we go again...

We have some large areas of reinforcement required. Mainly to reassure as much as anything, we have stripped back to bare brick and uncovered some bits that need attention.

Can we use standard rebar with resin, then repainted as standard? As appears to helibar?

It is for internal corners so ideally would like some longer runs, 2m x 1m in a 90 degree bend.

Any steer on this would be really useful.

Many thanks

The walls have been stripped and sandblasted, so some pointing has been blown out that was loose. Gab c. 10-15mm (excluding the 10mm joint)

The house was built in 1835 so I would expect and have been told a bit of movement is inevitable and not to worry, it’s easily repairable.

You want to use helical bar for this, but 1mtr bars bent at 0.8m will be fine. Set them in every 4th mortar line, (starting at the 2nd from the top) and use the resin to bed them in, and about 4 bars should be sufficient to set your mind at rest.

Rebar will rust and expand. Helibar is stainless steel and will not.

Helibar keys in with resin better than rebar too.
