Hi,

We have the above type of lighting in our offices and I wondered if someone could help with a problem we have?

Each luminaire consists of 3 x 18watt 600mm tubes, each tube has a starter and there are two chokes? and one capacitor in each fitting. We have recently been round and replaced tubes as necessary but on four of the fittings we can only get one tube in each to light. We have replaced the tubes and the starters but no luck, could it be a fault on one of the chokes? in each case one of them is running hot to touch and the other is cold (don't know if this is because of a fault in the choke or simply because it is not drawing any current because the tubes aren't lit.

So, is it likely to be the choke and if so can we get replacements? or is it more cost effective to just replace the whole fitting?

It could well be the choke, you'll have to look for a manufacturer and/or part number on the old one and see whether or not a replacement will be cost effective. You don't necessary have to replace with an exactly identical part as long as the electrical ratings are the same, but you might find that a non-identical part is a different size/shape and hard to mount back into the luminaire.
