Hi

I am in the middle of renovating my bathroom. Curently the waste and supply pipes run along the floor and are boxed in. We though that we would extend the boxing upwards to form a false wall and place a concealed cistern within it coupled to a floor mounted pan.

Our requirements for the cistern are that it should preferably be dual flush with an internal overflow and the inlet located at the bottom left (when looking from the front). We would like the flush to be actuated by push buttons mounted on the front of the wall (as opposed to on top of the shelf we'll have).

I've never had a concealed cistern before so would appreciate the benefit of your pooled experience in making a selection and avoiding any common pitfalls.

Recommend away.

Cheers!

Surely if the cistern is concealed, it will make little difference if the water inlet is on the side or the bottom?
Side mounting is one less potential leak, and you're not too worried what it looks like if it's going to be hidden.
Most can be assembled with the inlet on either side.

Don't box the thing in so it's totally inaccessible. Josiah Sodd's Third Law of the General Cussedness of Nature states that the mean time between component failures is inversely proportional to the difficulty of access for maintenance.

TicklyT we plan to put a piece of wood on top held in by dowels so would be as simple as lifting the lid off to gain access.
