I have a soffit overhang off 245mm from rendered wall to the start of fascia. Im putting new stone on the face of the house which is 165mm of the wall which will leave me 80mm for new spot lights. Maybe even 70mm or less so I the spots aren't tight against the stone and underside of the fascia.

Any recommendations on what best to get. My house is 16m long. What's best spacing for the spots.

Just have nice lighting plus shine down on the stonework.
In that case, you probably would do best with 'floodlights' (wide beam angle), rather than 'spotlights' (narrow beam angle). You may even want to consider 'LED strips', although I'm not sure whether one suitable for outside use are very common.

The PAR38 ones mentioned by FrodoOne come in both wide and narrow beam versions but, although I agree they are good, and use them myself, they seem to be relatively little used (at least domestically) in the UK, and not available 'from everywhere)

Kind Regards, John

The only difference between a 'spotlight' and a 'floodlight' is the beam angle - if of a similar 'type' they can take up the same amount of 'room' as each other.

A spotlight is designed to illuminate a small area (e.g. 'a bit of a wall'), whereas a floodlight will illuminate much more of the wall. It follows that, for the sort of application you seem to be talking about, you would probably need appreciably fewer floodlights than spotlights.

Kind Regards, John
