Red light and lock up!!!

I have a HP G3 Proliant ML330 server that I use as my home PC.

Don't ask why you do not want to know!!!

Anyway, every so often, a solid red light appears on the front and the bloody thing locks up.

I then have to re boot, recently however this has also meant restarting the active desktop.

Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it

Now I want to know even more than I would have done, so do tell why.

Have you looked up the meaning of the light in the manual?

Is there any marking on the case next to the red light?

Have you performed any disk diagnostics?

Have you taken backups of essential data?

Does your model have the integrated remote lights out. This should still work even if the machine won't boot and will give access to diagnostics and hardware logs.
