Hi i have a mature red robin bush
It gets plenty of new growth but the leaves just drop off and the bush just doesnt look very healthy, I was thinking of pruning it back ,
Would this help do you think.?

we have one of these in our garden which was very overgrown when we moved in last year.

I gave it a severe chop back around May time and there has been masses of new growth since then.

I don't know if it will solve your problem, but they seem to be able to take a good prune and bounce back!

regular pruning encourages the shoots and ergo the leaves. you wont get flowers on a very often pruned bush though, you'll need to let it establish more. whats around the bush? is it fighting more vigorous plants for nutrition?
