Hi,

I would like to take out some old wooden flooring and install some replacement flooring.

The issues I have are
1) how do I go about taking it out
2) how do I get a tight, professional fit.

I have enclosed some photos of the chipped flooring and an example of the problem I had with some flooring near my washing machine that slipped out when I deinstalled the old one. This is what I would like to avoid.

You will have to clear the floor and remove the it starting with the side nearest the relevant wall and refit. You can use the old boards as a template for cutting the new to size.

Ensure the floor/underlay is flat as possible, and install in accordance with manufacturers instructions. It is possible to remove a single board by routing a groove around the inside perimeter and then tapping out the remainder where it fits in the grooves of the adjoining boards, but not without risk.

Just so you know, that is laminate flooring, which comes as click together panels. If you replace with similar, then ensure it has decent water-resistance. They recommend, a gap is left on all sides, of 10mm, to allow for expansion.
