Reducing size of electrical meter board

And especially mind that black cable at the bottom as you finish the last cut with your circular saw!!

Surely one would use a multi tool for a task such as this.

Personally I'd just cut around it as Sunday first suggested.

The board is a bit overly large for what's it used for. Looks like the dno only had 1 size of board and couldn't be bothered to cut it down

I don't think they do cut boards down, unless they absolutely have to.

I expect that is arranged so if the meter was put into the flat, it's all ready.

Things have changed on this forum to be promoting fiddling around this sort of equipment.

Fiddling with a piece of wood that's rediculously over sized?

Regardless of what I might, or might not, do myself, I would not encourage anyone (and have not encouraged anyone) to do "fiddling around this sort of equipment".

However, I would hope and expect that a DNO would install their equipment on a board of sensible size or, at least, to reduce (by cutting or replacement), without charge, the size an unreasonably large board if so requested. In, say, a small flat, the amount of space effectively wasted by that unnecessarily/ ridiculously large board could be quite significant.

Kind Regards, John
