There is an MCB type B40 in my consumer unit that used to supply an electric shower. (The type that instantly heats water from the mains supply).
I have recently realised that although that MCB is turned off the supply cable which I think is 10mm is just lying in the loft with exposed terminals which would have previously gone into a pull cord switch.
As an amateur without qualification I can't remove the MCB from the consumer unit.
Could I just wire the exposed cables into a junction box in the loft and label it accordingly or does it really need to go into a double pole switch? I would obviously take all necessary precautions before doing this if it is an appropriate action.
Any advice appreciated.
