Reform council on verge of bankruptcy

I must say that a day after news of Ricky Hatton's death that could well have been connected to poor mental health AND with me asking folk here to look out for people they know who may be vulnerable, it's incredible to see some here throwing around the M word as an insult.

You don't know anything about anybody else on this forum.

And you probably think of yourselves as caring individuals.

THINK before you post.

but every ******g council in the country is well into the red, verging on bankruptcy, more so the ones handling more than their fair share of 'refugees'.
Most councils are in debt, but that is mainly due to under-funding from central government and continual rises in the costs of services such as adult care...

As for your claim that those more in debt can be related to the number of refugees/asylum seekers...

You can of course show us the figures to prove that, can't you?

More fillyfacts ?

Leistershire Council

I expect a Reform spokesman will be soon blaming it all on asylum seekers.

They have a great solution though: put up some more flags

Who runs Birmingham City Council, Notchy?

Hint. It's Labour. Since 2012.

I can't provide those figures, nor can central Govt and nor can local Govt.

just a quick example, there are lots more.

Another Reform council in trouble

Durham council £78m financial black hole

Examples of Labour-run councils in financial trouble:

  • Croydon Council:Has faced a "financial crisis" and issued a Section 114 notice, requiring government intervention.
  • Birmingham City Council:Declared bankruptcy due to massive unpaid equal pay claims.
  • Slough Borough Council:Issued a Section 114 notice and faced criticism for leadership and financial mismanagement, which exacerbated its crisis.
  • Thurrock Council:Experienced a huge budget deficit due to controversial business deals, including investing in renewable energy projects.
  • Barking and Dagenham:London's most indebted council, struggling with a significant funding cut since 2010, high levels of poverty, and a sharp increase in homelessness.
