Reglazing internal french doors

Hi,

I currently have a pair of french doors with a small (approx 1' high) window above, between the lounge and dining room. The doors have 4 panes of glass each, with a single pane in the window above - all of which are obscure glass.
I want to replace all of the panes with clear glass but I'm not sure what type/thickness of glass I need. Are there regulations on this? Does it need to be toughened etc.?

Any help appreciated.
