remeha avanta hot water flow

hi all, we have a remeha avanta boiler and we can only get luke warm water if the tap is on full. if we only put it on half then its absolutely fine. theres no error codes or anything, anyone have a clue what it could be?

Presumably you have a combi boiler. Which version of the Avanta is it?

What is the flow rate (litres/minute) when the tap is full on? Use a bucket with litre marks and a watch.

hi, im not sure on the model atm, its only 4 years old if that helps. the flow is 1ltr per 5 seconds so approx 60ltr per minute

The model will be on the data plate, which is on the underside of the boiler. It should say "Avantaplus 24C" or something similar. Otherwise look for the GC number, which will be in the form 47-yyy-zz or 41-yyy-zz

You maths is a bit dodgy.

1 litre in 5 seconds is 12 litres per minute!

That would require a 30kW boiler to supply hot water for a bath or shower at full flow.

The 28C will give a 35C temperature rise at 11.4 litres per second. How hot the water is when it comes out of the tap will depend on the incoming cold water temperature. In the current cold weather that may not be much more than 10C to 15C, so the hot water temperature will be 45C to 50C when the tap is full on. The only way to get hotter water is to turn the tap down, as you have found, or install a higher output boiler.

ah ok so no faults, just a rubbish boiler. our old one was brill. thanks for all your help

Not rubbish, just undersized, which is the fault of the installer.

Can you remember what it was , particularly how many kW?

Check the Setting of Parameter "P2" this is the Target Hot Water Temperature it should be set at around 50 -55'c
Please bear in mind that the Combi will only raise the water temperature 35'c at it's max flow rate (all combi's are the same) in summer the water main is as much as 15'c however in winter it is more like 5'c that 10'c is the diffrence between Hot and Luke warm! My Remeha Avanat Plus 35Kw is just coping with a 13.5l/min flow rate at the moment - BUT I sized the boiler to suit the water flow rate correctly! sounds like your installer did not!
