remeha avanta plus error code E5

hi anyone help?i have a remeha avanta plus...
error code E5 book says- no ionisation or ionisation failure more than 5 times
during one heat demand,
also the condensate siphon is empty
and i have to refil system regularly more than 3 times a year so may have a leak??
im hoping it coud be cheap fix ie -ignition electrode???

It may not be the ignition electrode.

You need a Gas Safe registered engineer to diagnose the problems.

You should get a Gas Safe engineer to fix the problem, assuming he can work it out!
Remeha sell a service kit for the boiler which contains the electrode and a few other items which need replacing when you undertake a good service in the combustion chamber, so my view buy the kit and get a full service.

I have read many a tale regarding the E5 code, engineers replacing this and that and still not getting it right.
I must point out I am not Gas Safe Registered....gave that all up but once was a CORGI guy.
SO CHECK THE EARTH CONNECTION SPADE CONNECTOR ON THE ELECTRODE it needs to be firm as its part of the circuit to work. If you read the manual it doesn't mention this. Also check the resistance of the electrode, read manual....press + button till you get the FL reading and if I remember correctly it should be between 3 and 9.0 μA when running.
