hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help me please ?

We have a quantity (well over 300 ) of used thick encaustic Victorian style tiles (originally bought from Fired Earth) which we would like to re-use.

Snag is they have got masses of adhesive/cement on the underneath of most of them which is rock hard ! We didn't lay them in the first place so don't know exactly what adhesive has been used.

Has anyone got any ideas as to how we can clean them without having to scrape it all off ??? There's too many of them to do that without loosing the will to live I feel !

I've heard that soaking in water could help and possible the use of acid but not too sure about the safety aspect of using acids ???

Or do any of you know of a company who would clean them for us perchance ????
Thanks
Bertie

soaking only doesnt work with cement based adhesives and i'd bet money that its been used.

recycling them is worth it though, they are worth a lot of cash.

I'm afraid a chisel\sds drill is the only way i know of
