Remove and cap a tap fixing

Hi all,

Appreciate replacing a tap has been covered many taps, but I want to remove the tap head and cap it off. We've moved the washing machine into the garage and want to put plaster board over where it used to be.

Could someone details the steps to do this?

Turn off water and cut the pipe supplying the tap and fit one of these onto the open end of the pipe.
